The history of sweater knitting is very long. In primitive life, humans used leaves and animal hides for clothing; in fishing and herding, they used nets to catch fish, thus learning the techniques of knitting. With the evolution of civilization and the invention of technology, humans not only fully utilized various natural fibers from plants and animals to weave necessities for life, but also developed various chemical and mineral fibers, making human life more comfortable and convenient. Therefore, the history of knitting can be said to be a history of human civilization and technological development.

From the knitted works of various ethnic groups, we can see that many works, while starting from practical function, have transcended the realm of practicality and become a crystallization of human art as humanity pursues aesthetics. They present a dazzling array of styles, from simple and rugged to exquisite and gorgeous.

Tracing the origins of the household sweater knitting machine, it can be traced back to 1589, when an English clergyman, William Lee, designed the first manual foot-operated sock knitting machine, more than 400 years ago. However, sweater knitting machines were not truly popularized and used as a production tool in China until the early 1980s.

Today, with the deepening of China's reform and opening up, the individual economy has developed unprecedentedly. Sweater knitting, as an emerging industry, has spread to various cities and provided employment and re-employment opportunities for some urban and rural residents, leading many people to become wealthy.
